Flute

In addition to her busy composing career, Lynne Plowman continues to work as a flautist. She is at home in a variety of musical styles, from baroque through to contemporary works, and improvising in jazz, folk and world music groups as well as devised theatre projects. Lynne plays concert flute, alto and piccolo, and has had several new works specially composed for her, notably panjandrum and upagupta by Andrew Wilson-Dickson, requiring her to play, sing and tell a story simultaneously...
PM music ensemble
Lynne has been a member of the Cardiff-based contemporary chamber group PM music ensemble since 1992, performing throughout the UK and also on tour in Belgium and Ireland. Their repertoire includes twentieth century classics such as Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire and Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time, alongside brand new commissions by British composers.
Flute and Piano Duo
Lynne Plowman (flute) and David Appleton (piano) have been playing together as a duo since their student days. They have a great friendship and a musical rapport which they communicate through energetic and fun-filled performances. They have an extensive and varied repertoire which ranges from Bach Sonatas through twentieth century classics (Bartok, Messiaen, Ibert, Milhaud, Prokofiev, Copland, Piazzolla...) to brand new pieces by young British composers. They enjoy putting together fresh, imaginative and accessible concert programmes.
